OUR COMMITTEE

President
Angela Roads
Angela is our current President. She found her way to our centre via her oldest of 2 daughters, Tulleah, who first started volunteering (and eventually riding) and then she roped Mum in as well as her sister Alyssa!
Angela's 'spare time' is spent doing a lot of committee stuff, working 2 jobs and helping out at the centre when we are short on volunteers.
Angela was never a real "horsey" loving person, more so admired them from afar....until our horses showed her just how amazing they can be!

Vice President
Jacqui Self
Jacqui had been wanting to get involved with RDA for a number of years and finally joined us in 2024.
She has owned & ridden horses for the past 10 years & is a member of the Wooroloo Adult Rider's Club. She is an Occupational Therapist working in the NDIS and Aged Care space and is very passionate about the benefits of being around horses whether riding, grooming, feeding or simply just watching.

Jacqui is very keen to support future developments however she can.

Treasurer
Margaret Inglis
Margaret’s involvement with RDA as a volunteer began in 1987 at RDA Carine where she was treasurer. After several years, while living in Brigadoon, she moved on to being involved with Pony Club and EFA Eventing with her daughter.

Moving to Adelaide in 2003 began involvement with the Animal Welfare League, then moving to Mandurah in 2013 she was a volunteer at K9Rescue.

On moving back to the Swan Valley last year and becoming involved with horses again through her grandchildren Margaret found her way back to RDA and is once again a volunteer and took on the role of treasurer in November 2022.

Secretary
Trish Solly
Trish, her husband Wayne & son Ben relocated from Karratha to the Perth Hills in 2019.
Prior to relocating Ben was already enrolled & super excited about joining RDA Brigadoon. Within months Trish was heavily involved in the Centre, helping out coordinating volunteers developing procedures & processes for the Centre as well as taking on the secretarial role.

Her background as a Business Manager has certainly helped with this role. Like any Not-For-Profit managed by volunteers there is always lots to do!

Committee Member
Cristie Curry
Cristie started coming to RDA in 2015 with her daughter, Olivia. She spends many hours here every week helping out where she can. Initially she knew nothing about horses but over time she has learnt a lot and has developed a love for them that she never thought she would.
Cristie says that she loves the atmosphere the centre has and feels very comfortable leaving her daughter there knowing she will be cared for and loved.

Committee Member
Rebecca Wolfe
Rebecca started volunteering at RDA Brigadoon in October 2022. She had to do a number of volunteer hours for the university degree she was studying at the time.
Rebecca is a real horse person, having ridden and owned horses from a young age, so she thought, "what a great place to do it!"
Once Rebecca completed her hours, she stayed volunteering as she felt she got so much more from the people, clients and horses. Rebba sees RDA Brigadoon as a place that gives so much to everyone, in many different ways!

Committee Member
Carol Ballardin
Carol has always had a passion for horses, but her knowledge about them was limited. Nevertheless, she mustered the courage to start volunteering at RDA Brigadoon March 2021, and from the very start, she was captivated by the experience. The supportive atmosphere and helpful people at Brigadoon made a lasting impression on her.
She loves spending time with the clients, witnessing their growing confidence around the horses, and enjoying their joyful conversations.
In addition to her time with the clients, Carol assists with various tasks around the Centre, including cleaning the kitchen and restrooms, always staying busy!
Her friends often brace themselves for her enthusiastic stories about RDA Brigadoon and its. Carol truly believes that volunteering there has been one of the best choices she has ever made.

Committee Member
Kate Tolson
Kate started volunteering at RDA Brigadoon in 2020 because she loved horses but had never had the opportunity to be around them.
In 2021 Kate and her husband Dave bought a property in Chidlow and Kate got her first horse. Now they have 4 horses and a menagerie of other rescue animals which includes chickens, dogs and rabbits.

Kate loves the inclusive and fun community at RDA Brigadoon and volunteers 3 days a week. Dave helps out too whenever he can. She loves getting to know the clients and seeing their happiness when they ride and when they recognise her!

Kate learns something new every day from the amazing coaches and other volunteers and she has even learnt to ride through the volunteer reward lessons.
